Work Besties! Theme Song Written by Ralph Lentini @therallyband

Jess K:

You think you know which work bestie who podcast episodes number one this year? But did data say otherwise? In our 2025 Year in Review episode, we will share the top wellness themes, the top solo episodes, as well as the top guest episodes.

Claude F:

And of course, after numerous emails and comments, I will show you how to make some cocktails for the end of year.

Jess K:

So stay with us, learn which episodes you were most moved by, and learn to make drinks.

Claude F:

Hi, I'm Claude and I'm Jess. We are corporate employees by day, entrepreneurs by night, and work besties for life.

Jess K:

Join us as we explore how work besties lift each other up, laugh through the chaos, and thrive together in every industry. Work besties. Welcome, Work Besties to Podcast. This week's episode is really special and dear to us because it means we officially made it through season two. One yeah. Another year in the books. And we are so so thrilled to talk with you all about what all occurred in this season of wellness.

Claude F:

And also two seasons, so two years that we've been doing that.

Jess K:

Right.

Claude F:

Two years of tears of well, more laugh.

Jess K:

Maybe tears from laughter.

Claude F:

Tears of laughing, yeah. And also few technical issues, but of course, our tech here, Jess, made it all better.

Jess K:

I don't know about that. But we are so proud for what we have built this year, over the past two years, but especially this year, and most importantly, we're so proud of our work bestie community. We really could not have done any of this with any of you. So every listen, every message, every oh my gosh, you made us laugh with this, or you made me think about this in a different way. It all matters.

Claude F:

Yeah, it's and at the end of the day, we learned from our guests, and it was just not like two work friends, blah blink non-stop. Into the void, right? Into the void. So it's really learning something and hopefully to make everybody a bit better.

Jess K:

That's the goal. Um, so having said that, and knowing how much I love to talk numbers, we want to take some time in this episode to really reflect back on all of the episodes that we've done this past year. 52 full episodes. Wow. Um, and we're so excited to review some of the guest conversations, some of our solo episodes, as well as some of the themes and thematics that really came to life. Um, and just talk about why we think those rows to the top.

Claude F:

Yeah. But again, everybody in our eyes are winners. Every episode. Every episode was still something that we learned from, we laughed from. So in our eyes, everybody are winners.

Jess K:

But you also know how much we love to talk about what themes you work besties like. So we're actually using a lot of this to help us with season three. Before we get into any of the numbers, we just want to say we loved every single episode that we've made this year. Every single guest, every single conversation, every one of our late night conversations, um, every piece of content that we put out there, every single thing that we have done really has meant a lot to us. Everybody's a winner in our eyes. But we also know you guys are probably curious to understand which ones of these many episodes were played on repeat. So today we're excited to share with you the details on this, as well as give you a little bit behind the scenes of what's going on in our upcoming season three. So, yes, guys, there's a season three, and it's already planned out.

Claude F:

So we walk you through the top theme themes of our episode, also quote quote top uh guests, the one that rise, rose to the top. I say quote unquote, because I cannot say enough that everybody's a winner, and also our top solos.

Jess K:

Alright, so let's get into the 2025 highlights. We should chat about what else we plan to do today. So, as we talked about in the opener, Todd is going to share with us some of her amazing cocktails. Yes. Because I would say one of the most talked about of all of our episodes, at least our solo episode, was what is in a badge cocktail.

Claude F:

All right. So first we start easy with the classic Cosmo. This is really good. And with your work bestie, nothing better than that. So I'm going to pause here.

Jess K:

I will buy the topic for you.

Claude F:

First, of course, we're going to do the shaker. We are going to put very easy. I'm going to big one.

Jess K:

So you don't drink very often.

Claude F:

I don't drink very often. Um, I'm going to double it. So I'm going to do four ounces of vodka. That's for two. Two ounces. You can see I worked in a liquor for spirit because it's always please drink responsibly. So this is four ounces of vodka. Oh. Then one ounce for the person or two ounces for two. Yeah.

Jess K:

One ounce per person of cranberry juice. Cranberry juice. That's my contribution, guys. Thank you. Besides drinking.

unknown:

Yeah.

Claude F:

Then we are going to do ounces of limes. Lime? Lime. Yeah, lime juice. This is a lime. This is a not a lemon. Lime. A lime. I did with a lemon too. Not as good. Okay. Good to know. So cosmos with a lime. Lime. And then quantal. I know I don't like to make to say what I'm using, but quantal. Which is orange liquor.

Jess K:

Orange liquor. So it doesn't have to be quantum, it has to be orange liquor.

Claude F:

Yeah.

unknown:

Okay.

Claude F:

Right. Then, of course, you're going to put ice. Ice, everybody. We're going to put that. So ice with it. Ice. And then now we are going to shake it.

Jess K:

Only at work that is.

Claude F:

The first time it had someone. Oh, so now you're putting on the drinks. The couple. Look at that beautiful colour. That's so pretty. Alright. So you are important? Now, what you want to do, if you want, you can drink it like that. But if you want to make it pretty, we can put some rosemary. Some little rosemary on top, like that. Look at how pretty. Green and pink. Alright? Oh this one. We'll do this one. Look at that. Look at us. So cheers.

Jess K:

Cheers. To work bestie. Amazing year.

Claude F:

Oh my god, it's good.

Jess K:

That's good. That's a good one. We may have to hit pause and just keep going. Yeah, I know.

Claude F:

Be careful what's good. We'll continue. Oh my god. It was worth being all over us.

Jess K:

So I feel like this is a good time to chat about our some of our highlights while we're savoring this amazing cosmo, which if you guys want to learn how to make it.

Claude F:

Two vodka, one lime, one cranberry juice, one orange liquor. And shake, shake, shake. Shake shake.

Jess K:

Be careful when you close it.

Claude F:

Make sure you close it.

Jess K:

So Claude, I thought while we're cheersing with our Cosmo. Cheersing. We could talk about something about ourselves that we're most proud of. Yes. Yeah. So what are you most proud of? So I think for, well, there's a lot. And I know we both collectively came up with the one that we want to talk about. So I'm going to go with my personal one first, which to me, what I feel I'm most proud of is how we have done with expanding our presence. Yeah. So we have really grown quite significantly in Instagram. We've done amazing with that. We are officially launched on the majority of the platforms. We still have a few more to go, but we have really made a name for ourselves on YouTube, TikTok, and started LinkedIn.

Claude F:

LinkedIn. That is really exciting.

Jess K:

We're really excited about our work bestie community and conversations that are happening on each of the platforms. And if you get a response, it is directly from one of us.

Claude F:

And I have to say LinkedIn because it's what's audio. I feel it is became more official with LinkedIn. Yes. Well we have a question.

Jess K:

I'm not saying that we can take some of the key learnings and really establish it in the way that it's meant to be, which is helping all of you. We're so excited about that. Our partners that have been amazing with us in LinkedIn. Thank you.

Claude F:

And we sent our first email blast.

Jess K:

That's right. So for those that aren't in the know, we are starting a listserv and we will be sending out emails on that. So we'll give you details of how to join.

Claude F:

Yeah.

Jess K:

And we're so excited to have more touch points and ways to communicate directly with you guys. So what about you? What are you most proud of?

Claude F:

So uh most I mean I'm mostly proud of the consistency. Because compared to last year, where we did 30 episodes, which was a lot, which was a lot. The first one for the first season was a lot. And we did have a big yatus, you know, in the summer. Also did you say a big one? Yatus. It's not hiatus. Hiatus. Hiatus. Hiatus. Yatus. Tomato. Hiato, potato, potato, yatus, yatus.

Jess K:

Yatus or hiatus.

Claude F:

Hiatus. So we had a big hiatus. Um in the summer. This year, this season, we did 52 episodes. Right.

Jess K:

And we still gave you your hiatus. Your hiatus in the summer for you to go and not have to feel like you were attached to like a part of it. We were able to pre-do a lot of stuff and hold on the fort that way. So more of that. Oh my god.

Claude F:

It's continuous.

Jess K:

We did not start drinking before this episode, so please don't that. Um drink responsibly. Drink responsibly. So yes, I agree. 52 episodes. We already have planned for season three.

unknown:

Yeah.

Jess K:

Sneaky. Potentially more than 52 episodes. If you're a part of our work bestie community, you'll get to see and hear them. Um, but at least 52 for everybody. And we wanted to talk about what we're both most proud, which really is the building of sick friend. No, no, keep throwing so much alcohol at me, and I might not. Um, what we're most proud of is our work bestie community. So thank you to all of you. So cheers for being along with us in this process. Oh my god. All right, so I didn't really have purposes. Oh boy. This is gonna end really well, everyone. Um, as we said, we wanted to go through the numbers. Yeah, and the first thing I thought we could talk about is how our themes from work wellness went this year. So we kicked off the year talking about the different topics that we planned to cover. I don't know that we did a great job of explaining each episode and which one was a part of this theme. Some like episodes were in your face, but well, they all had wellness related, but we had covered in the beginning, so please go back to episode one of the season, episode 31, and you can learn all of them. We'll also put them in the show notes, but there were actually about eight different topics we were planning to cover on. So every single one of our episodes, whether the solos or the guests, actually related to one of them, all related to that. At least one of them. Correct, at least one. So we we earmarked some of them, kind of you right, blurred up to, but what we did is we actually went through and had pre-listed which ones they were focused on, and then we ranked of those topics which ones rose to the top. Yes. So, top three in reverse order. The number third theme of workplace wellness was work besties, friendships, and communities. So this would be episodes where we talked about the power of work besties culture, um, work friendships, and how they can spark total reinvention, when your work bestie moves away. Shout out to Fogel and Fogel and Grail, Broadway besties. So shout out to Brett, who we love. And some of the solo episodes that we did where we talked about the beauty of our friendships and what caused us to continue to be so excited to continue to do this. So that one was the third um theme that came to life. Number two was leadership, alleyship, and inclusive workplace environments. Love that one. So we did a sprinkling of this throughout the whole season as well. So season three is gonna be a little different. We're gonna keep our themes more obvious, um, so it'll be clear, uh, and we'll actually make each month known what the theme is. For season two, though, these themes were sprinkled throughout. This one I think was probably the most expansive because it started in the beginning, and we pretty much had one of them almost every month. Some of the topics that this uh relates to is truly showing up. We had one called Unlocking Career Success, The Relationships, Empathy Reset Tools and Leadership, Belonging at Work, Belonging at Work, exactly. Um, strategies for an inclusive workplace and being a better ally.

Claude F:

And one of them also were two-parters, right? Two parts where we took a solo, we went in the solo and we did uh Ruby Vesley. Yeah, with Ruby Vesley, and we took the test.

Jess K:

Well, so technically we had more rag. Yeah, we had Mourag Barrett, and we had Ruby Vesley. We joked, we're gonna get Eric next year. Yeah, um, and then we did a solo on it too, because we were so impressed and really moved by how the uh um quiz itself really can help move and shape your direction of work too. Yeah, actually, personally, we actually decided too. So that was the number two themed um elements uh that came to the top, and then number one was whole person mind-body wellness. And I think this is amazing because it speaks to the power of people not just saying they think of wellness, but actually physically engaged in doing this. Yeah. Um, so we will go a little bit more into detail about some of the episodes, but uh just to give you an example, we did one called Daily Gut Sick, where we talked with Dr. Kate about that. We did how spiritual practices can reboot your lifestyle. We did a solo called The Power of Breaks, yeah. I physically move your body to do things. Yeah.

Claude F:

And it's okay to take break. I think that was what I liked is that we have to accept that it's not always go, go, go, go, go, but we have to learn and accept to take breaks. I love that. That kind of segues perfectly into our solo. Alright, so I guess we're going to do a soul three, two, one.

Jess K:

Yeah, yeah.

Claude F:

Like, suspense, number one. So, when talking about that, number three is the power of breaks.

Jess K:

Ah, yes, that's right.

Claude F:

That made it that made it again. Understand that it's okay to take breaks, it's actually makes it better. You can't you'll be able to calm and to refocus much better. Then another one, which I love, is celebrate the small stuff, why recognition matters more than you think. A lot of times you don't need big gestures, right? It's just like accepting and um celebrating the small stuff. You don't need to to have a chief like Mon Everest. You can more drinks coming. And actually, I'm looking at my hair, it's full of drinks, but anyway. So celebrate the small stuff, like even celebrate how to make drinks. There you go, you did it. Even if we're wearing a lot of it, yeah. Oh my god.

Jess K:

All right, so it is so good, by the way.

Claude F:

Yes, agree. Number one. Number one, it is well nested, isn't one size fits whole season two beginning. So is that I love it.

Jess K:

It's our first season two, and it was the most of all of our solos. That saying, guys, when we do our first solo for season three, if that's not number one ranked, I don't know. Yeah, I know. I think that's awesome because it actually showcases just how um engaged our work bestie community is and what ultimately these things mean to them. And then I did want another teaser for season three. We do plan to do more uh solo episodes. We love our guests, don't get us wrong, but we've got to see feedback from our work bestie community, and we couldn't cover them all in season two. So you'll see in season three ways that we are incorporating them all. So keep those comments coming. Oh, we love that.

Claude F:

Love it. We can only grow with comments, love comments, and we incorporate them into future episodes.

Jess K:

So and there's a possibility that if you want to be a part of the making of the episode, we would love that too. DM DMS on all our social platforms, on our social, even LinkedIn.

Claude F:

Even LinkedIn.

Jess K:

Are you following us yet? Um, okay, so this is a perfect segue to celebrate our solos with Claude explaining to us drink number.

Claude F:

Drink number two. So this drink number two is actually from the batch cocktail. Oh, so those who don't remember for Thanksgiving. Um, we were talking about what we do for Thanksgiving. I was like talking about my turkey with the fresh stuffing that has cognac and everything. We are going to do and batch cocktail. So this is going to be the batch cocktail, and this is the fun part of doing it. Unfortunately, I just have this bowl. So, what I did before, I warmed up some apple cider with slices. Of oranges. Okay. Some hard side. Yeah, I'm all right. And stars. And of course some cinnamon. So then you let it cool. Now it's going to be different part. Oh. Like you can do it like 15 minutes? Yeah, 15. Oh no, yeah, one. Just to make it like and then you can let it warm and then they all rotate. Yeah, got it. Then you take some cognac. And you just don't ask me how much. You just pour. Then we're very precise here. Take some more cranchal. I like cransrol. Pour how much. What do they say? How your heart design. Then you can put a little bit of more cranberry juice. Cranberry juice. Don't ask me. Okay.

Jess K:

Splash of this, a splash of that.

Claude F:

Yeah. Then you mix. And you just try. The more you you can do it in advance. Maybe how easier you do. Oh, you don't like it? No, I just don't want to be. I don't know what to expect. I did very good because I mean I took similar spot. We need a bit more cognac. I have another. It's another. I'm a drinker, not a mixer. I'm actually the opposite. I'm a mixer. That's why yin and yang. Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 2:

That's good.

Claude F:

Okay. So then, oh, what I like to do also to make it more festive. So you put in with a glass dish, yeah. A glass dish. You can put also so people can see it. Yeah. And it's very beautiful.

Jess K:

Huh? Pomegranate.

Claude F:

You know, you can put it, it's cute. So you don't need it, but it's like dark. Yeah. Very pretty. Just when you drink it, be careful it doesn't stick. Okay, then what you're going to do, and you leave it in the station. People are just going to serve themselves. You don't have to serve anybody. So you just put it. You can put a little orange too. Oh, just to make it like to make it nice. Yeah. You can put oh yeah. Oh, sorry. So you have to be careful because it's sweet. It's a bit dangerous. It's a bit sweet. Like dangerous.

Jess K:

Yeah, no, no, yeah. And don't drink a lot. Drink a lot.

Claude F:

Responsibly and don't drive. And don't drive. That's a big thing. My thing is like you know, I always tell my son you want to drink, that's fine. Be respectful. Know your limits. Be good with people. That is also that's the cinnamon stick. I think it's cute. You know. Oh, I love that. To make it, and if you want, you can even put again some more horse marrow roses. It's coming in handy. Coming in handy. Oh, this one has it's cute. This one has also the look at that. So here, look how pretty. So beautiful. Okay, this is a big glass.

Jess K:

That's a big health, healthy serving. I don't think we need to have all that. We don't have here. Thank you. Alright, so let's cheers to our amazing solos and our amazing work bestie community.

Claude F:

Oh, hold on. You can drink it like that. Go ahead. What we can do also, you can take some ginger beer and top it off with ginger beer. That's a lot. That's a lot. Gives a little bit of fuzz and chin.

Jess K:

I like the both. I like them both ways with and without the ginger beer.

Claude F:

It's very good. It's good, guys. It's very good. So remember, apple cider with slices of orange, cinnamon stick, and any stars, you know, the dry one, you let it cook, then you let it cool, cool, cool it, then you put cognac, little bit of cranberry, and some orange liqueur. And then mix it, add some beautiful accoutrements. And let's people make responsibly people.

Jess K:

Alright, so we thought we would now share with you all the top guest episode. We mentioned before that we all winners. All winners. We decided to for this one. Instead of just top three, we did top five because for us, we were like, it was just so hard. Um and we'll share obviously um all of the information on these particular ones because we're calling this our work bestie starter pack. If you want to know where to start to learn about us and what we stand for, these top five guests definitely represent that in totality. We thought we would share them with you now. Okay, coming in at number five, we already mentioned her, would be the episode with Mrag Berry. And it is called Unlocking Career Success: Moving Through Relationships with Mirag Berry. So we loved having her on. In fact, as we commented, we loved having her on so much that we had some one of her co-workers on, Ruby Vesley, and we took her ally mindset quiz. Um, so we highly recommend going back and listening to her episode. She really shares a lot about our ethos. Yes. The word besties. Exactly. So it could not be more the relationship at work, you know, and the importance of it. She's a book called You, Me, and We, in which it goes through um just how important work besties are for everybody. Relationship, yeah. Uh, for yourself at work, but also through the whole organization, and to really showcase that at all levels.

Claude F:

Number four, stoic empathy with Sherman Cruz. Love that episode.

Jess K:

You have like a special.

Claude F:

I have a special that episode. I mean, love Sherman, love what you represent, and that stoic empathy, really learning what it is. And also, she has a book, also, Stoic Empathy. Called Stoic Empathy, and um a good one as well.

Jess K:

And just in full transparency, Claude's favorite because Sherman. Sherman, not not like her best friend. So I had a tough one on that one, having to play Sherman over Claude. Okay, coming in at number three, um, one of one that I felt really dear to is breaking free from burnout to breakthrough with Nicole Richards. And we had so much fun with her, not just on the PA, but we actually chatted with her after. She's amazing. We highly recommend this episode. She talks about real life examples of her own burnout situations, of friends' burnout situations, of things that honestly all of us could relate to. Totally. And it's a very moving and empowering episode for sure.

Claude F:

Number two. Number two is authentic storytelling, the journey of Roxy Pause. Loved it. Yes. I mean, we love the uh millennial manager. You have to look at her content. Really, really impressive, impressive person to begin with, and really it related so well to our ethos, what we stand for. Uh, she's the perfect bestie.

Jess K:

Yeah. And really love that. And she continues to evolve. Like we highly recommend if you are not following her, to follow her now. Um, she gives so much about herself, not just what it was like in the corporate environment, but also her personal life. And she's just so amazing, so lovely, so endearing. Even though some of the stuff is cringe that she's explaining from a work environment, you can't help but smile because she does it in such an authentic way. So we finally was movements of mindfulness, rethinking yoga in modern life. And this one is with our dear friend Bria Johnson, who has quite an amazing following on YouTube, um, and probably got the most commentary on YouTube around her and how this can really relate to not just uh taking that moment for yourself, but how to become more productive at work.

Claude F:

Um and what I loved also was like for people like me that's a bit scared of taking like 60 minutes, it's really this whole on-demand uh yoga, even she explains that five minutes, 10 minutes, whatever. You can do at your desk, you can even take your work vesti and decide like decompress and go to a conference room and go on this one on demand, one of the classes, and it's really helps you your mind and your body.

Jess K:

Yeah, her approach and support of how to incorporate this mindfulness into your daily routine is so easy and simple because it is customizable, I think is the way we kept saying it. It's like whatever you can get in do that day is really what you can find. Right, exactly. Choose your own adventure.

Claude F:

So, yeah, so I love what you say. I was starting back, yes, and of course, afterwards you have to look at all yes.

Jess K:

Then we then we highly recommend going back and re-listening to Alice Season 2 because they're all winners or watchers.

Claude F:

I know which one I love because I'm a bit silly. I love our bloopers. Well, we definitely have one from this week, too.

Jess K:

Yeah, oh we have a lot of bloopers, we also have a lot of fun, a lot of things, and we did want to say if we can handle this, one more cheers to all of our guests. They have all been amazing. We were moved by every single one of them. Everybody comes on our episodes, maybe not knowing what to expect, and likewise sometimes for us, although we do a lot of research. Um, and I can't think of one where we were taking it back, we didn't connect, like every single one. This work bestie community has just they've embraced us.

Claude F:

Yeah, I think that's what I was going to say. Also, I feel like we all had this connection right away. It's like our friends coming, and I think that it's again the the strength of this community, yeah. You know, love it. I do too. So cheers to that.

Jess K:

Which one do you take? Oh, I was gonna do this one. Did you have the other one? Oh no, okay. I like this one.

Claude F:

Cheers, thank you, Tom. Cheers, thank you.

Jess K:

Yes, thank you. My work, bestie. My work. Oh, I have to give you a hug. Wait, I didn't I didn't get my joint on.

Claude F:

Thank you, Bestie. Just wanted to thank you also, because you're the fed of the whole thing. You're the brain boomer.

Jess K:

Near the heart. That makes us the whole time.

Claude F:

We've got that in here.

Jess K:

With that, we're so excited to walk you through the highlights and the ones that were most watched. But uh, as we mentioned, all are important. Everybody, everybody has been amazing. Um, and we gave a couple since season three, but not too many. So we hope you all stay tuned to next week where we actually break down what to expect from 2026.

Claude F:

Season three. Bye 2025.

Jess K:

Hello, hello 2026. So if this year's episodes, any one of them, including this one right now today, supported you in any way, we'd love for you to share um your favorite episodes, your favorite moment, your favorite blooper. Yeah, and also share with us your work besties. We love connecting with work besties. Tell us what you guys might be looking more for in season three. You can reach us on any single one of our social platforms. So as we close out 2025, we just want to say that we're wishing you all a happy and healthy new year. Um, and we hope that you guys, similar to us, can find ways to incorporate more rest, more joy, and more time with your work bestie. Dear Steve, remember whether you're swapping snacks in the break room, rescuing each other from endless meetings, or just sending that perfectly timed meme.
